about

A personal reaction to archaic US ‘no promo homo’ laws and the exploitative idiocy of 'pray away the gay' courses. So glad that a fantastic resource like ONE MILLION KIDS FOR EQUALITY (onemillionkids.org) is there to provide help and information - they are also an excellent place to make a donation! (onemillionkids.org/donate/)

INKY: Being from the UK I was shocked to see that laws in eight US states still prohibit teachers from discussing gay issues in anything other than an ambivalent or derogatory way. So, in Alabama, schools must teach that: ‘Homosexuality is not a lifestyle acceptable to the general public.’

I am neither young, gay, nor American, but I do know a recipe for bullying when I see it. Imposing this type of archaic education affects ALL youngsters - they deserve guidance and understanding, not state-legislated denigration.

We encourage as many views and 'likes' as you and your friends can muster for our YouTube video - send your support to the young Americans who suffer under these laws.

lyrics

MONSTERS (not on a day like this)

VERSE 1
Did hell or heaven break your heart
And leave it where the monsters are
Tick-tocking in your head
And is damnation my reward
For living life as I was born
Unless I can repent
So I say

CHORUS
Not on a day like this
Oh no I wouldn't give in
Not on a day like this
Or any day you'd care to mention at all

VERSE 2
A broken home, a leaky roof
Or even phases of the moon
I'd love to know the truth
Your gift of brainwashed misery
A remedy for being me
What did you think that I would do?
So I say

CHORUS rpt

So when you pray today
Why don't you pray the hate away?

CHORUS rpt to end
